There was joy and delight as students from Tadcaster Grammar School received their A Level results this morning. Severe illness did not stop one student achieving top marks.
Lucy Allis battled with glandular fever during her exams and could hardly get out of bed on most days. However, she managed to sit them all and when she received her results this morning there were tears of joy and relief from both her and her parents Deborah and Mike.
“I am over the moon and cannot believe it,” said Lucy, who received 1A* and 3As.
“Despite her illness she worked incredibly hard and deserves everything she has achieved,” said Mum Deborah Allis. “We are extremely proud of her, very tearful and very emotional.”
Lucy will now take up her place at Exeter to study Drama and Theatre Studies.
Alex Humphreys was ‘elated’ with his A Level results as his 3Cs secures his place at Edge Hill University, near Liverpool to study Business and Management. Alex gives the thumbs up as he speaks to his Aunt on his mobile phone to give her the good news.
Medicine bound – students Rhian Morgan (2A*, 1A, 1B) and Ben Lewis (4A*) have secured their places at Cardiff and Cambridge respectively, both to study Medicine.
